better is a highly subjective word.

to determine which is better, we would have to know your need.

what is the goal you're trying to accomplish?

please, help us help you.

Well to give you some info the B16 tranny has shorter gear ratios which will help you accelerate faster, compared to the LS tranny that has longer gear ratios, but will also have a higher top speed.

for b16a id stay with the b16 cable tranny , for the b18b i prefer the gsr its a perfect all around tranny indeed.

but if u want to boost in the future on the b18b id keep the ls tranny for the longer gears

You would have to convert to a hydraulic, depending on what type of car you have. For all we know you could be posting in the wrong forum with the little amont of information you have given.
