Quick Espelir question
Sorry .. i did a search but couldnt find the answer
I recently installed some espelier springs on my ap2 and at first i noticed the front was freaking a good amount higher than the rears. The specs was suppose to be something like 1.5 R 1.3F or something ... but it was not a .2" difference.
So I decided to let it settle and it did go down a little .. not really noticeable. Then i realized the passenger front is lower than the driver front ... like .25" or al little more.
Can someone tell me what is wrong with it? I read somewhere you can also cut the bump stops (or whatever the top part of the front springs) and it'll go down a little more. Is this advisable?
THANKS IN ADVANCE

did you preload the suspension? and though a dumb question, i have to ask: are you sure you put the fronts on the front and the rears on the rear?
i had a member on here do it .. so I am not sure what he did .. but ill ask him. What do you mean by preload?
As far as the fronts vs the rears .. i believe all springs (or most) the rears are lower then the fronts (but shouldnt be by much ) right?
I mean if he did switch it then the fronts would be super low and the rears would be super high (compensation for weight)...

Make sure the spring is sitting flush on the bottom of the shock. I'm almost 100% sure this is your prob..</TD></TR></TABLE>
x2 you have to put the spring back in the shock assembly the exact way it was sitting before.

i havent actually ripped apart my S yet, so sorry if this is off...
but i dont know if you did shocks too, but on preludes, twice ive seen people put on koni yellows and the bottom cup for the spring was upside down, which raises the car about a inch, and is really un stable

Im gonna take that as a no he didnt...
take everyones advice thus far and go back to see if it clears it up...
first do a visual inspection, if everything looks alright then proceed to preloading the suspension, you can tell right away if it changed or not...
i cant remember if the espelirs had front and rear written on them or not... but def check that as well...
and compare the 2 individual front assembly's... if one is sitting different than the other, then you have a problem and can go from there... good luck

it has nothing to do with it.
1)check the preload
2)check to see if the end of spring is sitting against the seat
you pretty much have to yank it out and redo it again

Hmm .. btw I PMED you.
Ok quick update. Checking the car again the fronts have settled a little more. I also mounted my new shoes and used my finger measurement as follows lol:
- Driver rear - one finger
- Driver front - two finger and a little
- Passenger front - two finger
- Driver rear - barely a finger
-(keep in mind a finger is roughly .5" )
This is good news I hope. A couple of more quick questions for you gurus ..
- So what actually are the drop rates for espelirs? Ive heard 1.3F 1.5 R and 1.8 and 1.3 all around .. hell even 2.0 or something.
- Are there any spring rates on the springs? My set was blue with just "Espelir" on them .. ive noticed before like Eibach would have rates or something.
-Also in the beginning the car was very "jumpy" during a little spirited driving. I made a left and the car came loose and another time as I broke kind of hard the car was hopping to a stop. I assumed this was due to the springs not settling yet and alignment is needed? (which I am going to get asap once I figure if I am going to keep this set or not). Its just all these stupid questions are going in my head.
Lastly: Can someone tell me what the alignment specs are? I have 18x7.5 +48/ 18x8.5 +50. Btw how the heck do you guys fit anything bigger than x8.5 in the rears? My rears are pretty much going to rub if if I go anything bigger
.
THANKS AGAIN (beer icon if HT had it)

based on your measurements, my guess is:
you put your put your front and rear springs in wrong.,, try swapping those. Also, make sure when you're swapping them to that they are sitting flush and against the grove of the shock...
also, off topic but.. based on your sig you work for a car care center but you can't do your own suspension work???

^ No I do not work for a car care place .. that is my sister's BF's shop.
Also I do not have any tools lol
so basically the front is suppose to be even w/ the rear? (assuming the swapping)

The springs should give you an even drop. Give or take 1/2 inch or less corner to corner.
You’re front are on the rears…if the front is higher.
Also, you need not preload springs. Preloading bushings is recommended but will not affect ride height. Make sure the spring is seated correctly in the perch.
I am from Los Angeles. If you’re having trouble, bring it by and I can take a look at it. My setup is KONI/ESPELIR.

that is probably installed correctly. like most hondas the rear fender is lower than the front so itll seem like the front is higher. check to see if your car is even with the ground. worst comes to worst you can get koni yellows and sit the front one perch lower than the rear. car is lookin goood by the way. let me guess your favorite color is blue?

^ lol damn so thats the opposite of mines. Ive spoken to two other owners and they said that the front is actually higher than the rears .. so i guess it is correct. Ill get a double opinion and probably go ahead w/ the alignment.
Btw my favorite color is actually silver grey/silverstone (dark silver) lol ..
Can anybody else confirm that it looks right? Thanks
