Default Tranny ?

I have a 95 LS that I plan on boosting in the near future or putting in B18C1 or H22A and boosting that. But as I said in the near future I bent a shifting fork and grinded out some synchros.

I need to know:
1) Is there any difference between the S80/Y80?
2) What is LSD and is it worth the extra price?
3) Which tranny should I get for boosting? (i.e, GSR or ITR trannies)

1. speaking primarily about usdm tranny's, s80 can be either ls or gsr. y80 is gsr. http://allmotorhonda.com/techp...s.htm
2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L...ntial ; definitely worth it
3. depends on how much power you're making. generally speaking, gsr's are a nice compromise between itr and ls tranny's. not too short, not too long.

I've driven a gsr and they are nice. but i've also driven an itr my friend has, and the 0 torque steer is what made me happy.

i don't know too much i'm slowly doing research on things, i appreciate the lsd thing.

would i need anything included in the swap of the tranny w/lsd for my ecu or anything? right now it's all stock with B16B1 and so I would like to have the GSR tranny if i get the b18c1 or h22a all of that will still work together. Probably the dumbest question ever.

1. not sure
2. LSD is definitely worth it. I usually hear its best to put a higher final drive with it but then again, your going boost.
3. I would say a gsr tranny

anyone know where to look to find one of those? i'm in the market now to buy one, not really looking for used, i'm looking for a new one, but anything under 30k miles should be alright, i'd like to think so anyway.

if you want an absolutely brand new tranny, http://www.sonsacuraparts.com but expect to pay a premium. it's the dealer after all.

or check out the marketplace for used tranny's.

You can use a gsr tranny with an H22 but youd have to do an H2B which is pretty pricey and a gsr can make just as much power as an h22 on stock internals.

Stock b16b1? Do you mean stock b18b1?

My advice: Grab you a gsr tranny and turbo your LS motor.

yeah just boost a h22 with the h23 tranny you will kick the b18's *** no matter what setup they might have........they dont compare to the power or torque of an h22
