Picking out a transmission ( the ye ole LS vs GSR Tranny debate )
Target whp for my project is going to be in the low to mid 300hp level and its become time in the project to purchase a transmission. However the main staple of goodness over in the hybrid.jp camp is and probably always will be the GSR/ITR for obvious higher gearing. However if your dealing with a higher output motor where on the street traction would be a problem , would a LS with a LSD be more adventagous in this scenario?

both work good do what your budget allows.. the gsr/b16/itr setups accelerate faster and feel better jusy my opinion but the LS with quaife also works just as good.

Re: Picking out a transmission (b18bturbo)
I have had both the gsr and ls tranny in my car. I ran better times with the gsr but now that I'm shifting into 5th in the 1/4 the LS would be nice. But once I get 24.5" slicks I will be able to stay in 4th. The only advantage I would see from the LS is on a highway trip.

I think for that kind of hp the gsr trany would be better as well. It will pull through the gears longer and your not really making the kind of hp that would benifit from a ls. A bigger size tire will always change your gear ratio if you need to slow it down.

Re: Picking out a transmission (FritzInTN)
Thanks for the input guys. The concept of running a larger tire escaped me I suppose when I wrote this. I'm going to be running Rays Eng. SE37K rims that only come in 17's on the street so that should negate some of the higher gearing. I suppose its time to start hunting down a GSR/ITR transmission....

Re: Picking out a transmission (DIRep972)
im also in the same situation...i have had both a 92 gsr transmission and a 92 LS transmission...
the 92 gsr transmission is the most aggressive transmission of any honda, after that being said im not going back to the LS transmission...
the deal is it is like finding a needle in a haystack trying to find ANY of the transmissions, if i cant find one im going to have to throw out 1725 for a NEW B16a transmission...OUCH! anyone know where to get them or have access to them?

I thought there were a million places on line that sell just the trannies *JDM y0*
There's also plenty of individuals with them for sale quite often.
