Default Exhaust pipe is too loud, tire of it, seriously!!

I'm tired of my exhaust being extremely loud, I bought one of those 3" inch test pipes they sell at ebay, apparently they're illegal, but what the hell. I'm not sure if it's 2.5" Ill double check. from there, I got a custom bent 2.5" exhaust pipe all the way back, without a silencer, at the ent I got a, I think it's a 4" inch muffler, sounds ricey with the silencer, I took the silencer off and sounds too loud, not deep at all, just screams for attention. If you guys know about exhaust systems, I'd appreciate your help. I'd rather hear my engine when it revs, kind of like the stock exhaust, but I don't want to sacrifice horsepower by going back to stock, I wouldn't mind a deep tone either, I want to either hear just my engine or a nice sporty not too loud tone.

Sounds like a typical aftermarket exhaust.

Cats, resonators, and non-straight through mufflers can all help make the fart noises less farty.

Or you can get an intake, to make your engine sound louder. Then you can hear your engine too!

good call. Thats what I have and it sounds really good. i have a resonator from a 2006 eclipse exhaust, a high flow car and a 5zigen axel back. But with a kteller 22inch resonator it would sound even better. It is pretty loud but sounds good. I have a sound clip of it that I will post a link up for.

A test pipe is used i place of a cat. A test pipe is straight through and does nothing to save the Ozone, you will fail emmissions depending on what state you live in. A cat converter filters your exhaust and catches the harmful gases that polute the ozone. A high flow cat is in between a cat and test pipe, it filteration system is more free flowing in comparison to a reg. cat, allowing a better flow of exhaust.
A resonator, and Im not 100 percent sure acts as a pre-muffler, toning down any loud raspy and obnoxise nosie that is coming out of your muffer, and if you have a test pipe resonator, then that sounds like an ebay special, I got one on right now, and aside from being illegal, It stinks like exhaust fumes really bad.

A friggin ebay is a great place but sometimes the adds are misleading.

Here lemme tell you what my plan for exhaust for my car is, I have all the parts just need the time.

I have a magnaflowe muffler, pretty sure its chambered(the mod said a chambered muffler is what makes it quiet) GOnna be running 2.5 piping and eventually replacing the ebay special for a high flow cat.

Check out
Meganracing.com(for a high flow cat)
magnaflow.com (for a muffler of your choice, and they have resonators there to)

That woud prob be your best bet.

I cant wait to get rid of the ebay special. The thing rattles, something is lose on it, and it smells like bad exhaust fumes, Im looking to replace it ASAP.

Thread Jackers, ha

I have noticed a diffrence in it, but it is a whole lot more free flowing than a reg cat.

Personally i would get rid of the test pipe and install a high flow cat. Re: cat back, i went with a triflow muffler from powerflow exhausts and it sounds great. Deep note at idle and not screaming loud when you put the pedal to the floor, just a nice low hum. Definately recommend a cai, so you can better hear the induction note.
