Default Turbo GSR cutting out

This is the second turbo kit my friend has put on his car..

at around 7,000 rpm and 7,500 rpm it cuts out really bad and it won't let the motor rev higher.. we thought it was the plug gap but it turns out it wasn't.. the gap is at 0.032 right now and we started from a 0.038. and it doesn't feel any different

we know the motor is getting enough fuel because when we let off it has a nice backfire..

any suggestions or help would be appriciated

gap them at .028 and make sure you have good wires. if the plug wires are failing you are not prividing strong spark adn you are spark knocking. rotor button could be it too. just start checking everything in the ignition system. do you have a msd or anything on this car? you ned to check rotor, cap, plug wires, coil and ignitor. also is this car tuned???

i would just get new rotor, clean the cap, new plug wires just for good measure, its always good to keep the ignition system in top shape when running higher cylinder pressures.

ignition is super important when boosting. def do the ignition tune up quicksilver mentioned and get that car tuned before you blow it!

Check your timing, it might be off. I had the same problem in my b16 turbo, and my timing was off and at high rpm's it will cut off just like your case

sounds like a timing issue, but could also be a map problem what map and setup are you useing?

b16 with greddy turbo kit, the motor has more then enough fuel. and i believe the basemap is better then a FMU..

we ran the same map on a previous boost setup and it worked flawless to 8 grand. now we can't seem to get past 7,500... we'll double check all the ignition this weekend.. thanks for the bump guys!

having more then enough fuel is also a problem. the car isnt tuned. you dont know what the air fuel is you dont know what the ignition timing is. you should really check these major things before you ask for help

so we hooked up a wideband and the a/f is 11:5-12:5 from vtec all the way up to 7,500. then it cuts out. after tightning the gap down the 0.030 it didn't even seen to help. what other things could be the problem? it's not the rotor bug, cuz we replaced it

if you have exhaust dumping under the engine bay it will be pushed back up the firewall and be sucked into the motor.....if its open downpipe it needs to go pretty far back
