I have a D16ZC motor in my hatch and has been running like a champ for almost a yr after swap was done. 3 days ago I parked my car after getting home from work, pulled the e-brake on and the engine turned off without me touching the ignition. I then tried cranking it over but it would not fire up(engine turned, but no ignition. I checked for spark @ the plug wires(all) and nothing. I replaced cap and rotor with D15 vtec ones from autozone, replaced the ignition coil and little control module inside with good ones(from working D15 engine I swapped out) and still no spark @ the plug wires. I took the cap off and checked to see if the dizzy was producing any electricity at all so I put my hand on the ignition coil, cranked it and was shocked.. so there is a spark generating inside the coil in the dizzy, but its not traveling to the plug wires.. IDK what to try next. Do I need a replacement dizzy or do I not have the right cap n rotor? Autozone said d15 n d16 are the same part # for both, but idk since it is a D16ZC.. PLease HELP!!

Have you checked your fuses?

fuses are all good, n no cel is lighting up. im going to try my old dizzy from d15 non vtec block that i kno worked..

I second the fuses , possibly borrow a dizzy from someone with the same setup / trade wires continue down the line one step at a time

check your cap and rotor on the distributor, just had a ex honda in for that issue, new cap and rotor solved the problem

Double checked the fuses, all good, still only getting spark in the coil, but not through the new cap n rotor n thru the new plug wires. Also tried dizzy from d15 non vtec and same thing, no spark @ the plug wires..

thats rough, just throwing out a possibility but maybe it jumped its timing, but the plug wires would still spark from what i would think.

Hmm I have ran into this before engine rotates but will not start check ignition coil with a volt meter I have an si with d16z6 and a hatch with swapped d16zc vtec and have had to replace ignition coils on both if coil is good check grounds remove dizzy and look for play in rotor shaft if free play found borrow another dizzy and try that
