Default 92 DX coupe speddo is bouncing like crazy

So, my searches say it might be the VSS.

1) Is the VSS easy to get to? On the back of the transmission is what I read? Do I need to remove airbox etc?

2) Does the instrument cluster have a cable in the back or not - Did OBD1 eliminate the cable coz some older hondas had cables in the back!

There is no cable, its all powered except for the actual sensor. I don't have an airbox but you probably want to remove the intake hose as the minimum. The VSS has 3 wires going to it and is pretty far back on the trans towards the back of the block.

Its pretty easy to get to. Got water in mine one time and the same thing was happening to my gauges. They are electronic now, no cable.

They aren't hard to replace, it's easier w/o the intake on but you may still do it with it in there. It's just one bolt holding it on the trans (it's near the back but on the top side so you can access it). Then just pry it out. It looks like 3 bolts holding it down, but really 2 are just holding the body of teh VSS together so make sure not to take those out...
