I just picked up a super clean DA for 2k the only thing wrong with it is that the speedometer cable is broke...i got pulled over twice for speeding within the same week i got the car but the cops let me go because they said they like my car lol i got lucky
anywase i was wondering how hard it would be to change the cable is it on the bottom of the tranny?
and another thing since the cable is broken would that cause my check engine light to come on?

The speedo cable goes in at the top/rear of the transmission. If you remove you intake piping and look straight down near the throttle body, you should be able to see it.

It isn't very difficult to remove. You'll have to remove the one clip that holds it into the transmission, which can be done with a flathead screwdriver or a set of pliers. You'll than have to remove the gauge cluster and pull the speedo cable out of the back of it. From here, you just pull it through the firewall, either direction.

A bad signal from the speed sensor will usually cause the check engine light to come on when decelerating while in gear and stay on until the car is turned off; taking the transmission out of gear and coasting in neutral while slowing down will usually prevent a CEL. If the light is on anytime you start the car your problem may be something else, and you should check the codes it's throwing to find out what it thinks the problem is.
