So I just bought it. and got a pretty good deal on it. But the previous owner was pretty dumb.

They tried to dry sand it.. It doesn't look to bad but it looks like a bad prime. lol even tho A high powered buffer will probably take it out.

Its all stock except intake and exhaust. and its Auto.

But I wanna know would it be worth it to do an engine swap and convert it to Manual.

And what engine/transmission should I swap it with and estimate how much I would need to spend?

So is it even worth it? Going through all that and then more likely having trouble with it at the end.


I'm pretty new here and wanted to ask a few questions.

convert auto to manual is time consuming and how much do u plan to spend on the swap? if u plan to do the swap..why didnt u buy a manual instead at first.
b16a complete obd1 swap..u are looking about $2000$2300
b18c swap..u are looking at $2500~$2800
h series about $2500..k series u are looking at $10000
and if u dont know how to do the swap, to have a shop do it for u will cost u somewhere betwewen $500~$700

what are you looking to spend on how much HP? cause most people will tell you to jump on the k bandwagon

Well ill plan on paying around 2000-2500.

And I got the Car for 1000. The kid was pretty dumb and all it needed was an fuel pump

b20 swap it with a cheap LS tranny...looking at about 2500 if you do the work, axles, shift linkage, clutch pedal and braket, slave cylinder etc etc etc if you decide to do it

I think he was suggesting you keep your existing engine (which is a D-series, if it's a 93 and still OEM) and just install a turbo.

An Auto-&gt;Manual conversion would be separate from whatever you do to your engine. You'll need additional parts to do that conversion, which is beyond what's included in a "normal" swap - shift linkage and related hardware, clutch/brake/gas pedal assembly, etc. I think there's some wiring harness differences too (automatic shifter interlock vs. clutch pedal interlock).

This is how you auto to manual a d-series. I started this how to but dint have my camera with me the day of the swap so this is as far as I got. If you wanted to swap a b-series in it then this would still apply but replace all the D parts with B parts. Pedals and all non direct motor related parts are to be collected from the manual chassis delsol.

Full D16Z6 swaps range from 300-500 bucks.
That's your best bet.

ON the serious note, I have helped my cousin do an "auto-manual"/B18c swap in his Civic coupe and it was not that difficult. You need to make sure you have all your necessary parts (which includes the aftermarket "auto--&gt;manual transmission mount") and do not ghetto-rig the wiring for the reverse and clutch pedal wiring. Also, when you put in the manual shifter, use some sheet metal to fill up the hole where the stock auto gearshift mechanism once was. I have seen some crappy work where they don't completely cover up the hole and water gets into shifter area.

If you are going to do a swap, make sure you do the manual conversion. Would not want to swap in a B18 and a tranny

I have a 95 sol that I swapped a GSR engine into and converted it to manual. Unless you can either do it yourself or you know of a really good shop, I would say it's not worth it. I'm happy with mine now, but it took a lot of time and patience to get here.
