You could have a bad fuel injector. I had a similar problem on my 98 hatch. Replaced the fuel injector in question (threw a code 73) and no more sputtering at start up.

even if the engine light is not on make sure you check that computer. The check engine light in my lude does not work and it was throwin 2 codes. I could not figure out what was wrong with it cause the light was not on until i looked at the ecu.

You dont have chocolate lollypops on your plug wires do you? Both me and my father-in-laws CRX did that from the oil settling into the cylinder after sitting. It caused my car to run hard for a couple minutes. Just a suggestion and easy to check.
i do have a check engine light on but thats becasue i dont have my soeed senor on yet it really only does it in the morning or when i let it sit for a couple hrs then start it again
the check engine ligjht is on but because the speed senor isnt hooked up yet but it does it when i start it in the morngin and when i let it sit for a couple hrs like when im in school but it stop about 10 15 min l8r
