Quite alot of money and time.

Here's a k20...alot of custom fabrication and what not. For that price you can have a 10 second crx with an h2b...

Or just do a stock h2b swap and be just as fast as the k-bombs

Corrected for accuracy. H2b isn't exactly the cheapest thing out there either, and they have their own problems (like hood clearance).

It really isn't outrageously expensive, if you source your parts correctly and can do the labor yourself. If you're serious about it, check out http://www.k20a.org

why when people ask about k swaps some idiot has to put in his 2 cents about an h2b swap?

i was speaking with drag racer ALLMOTORRANDY a few nights back.... he has an H2B. he even stated that if he cant keep up this season, he is switching to K motors.

H2b with a stock motor is comparible to a stock motor k20a2. but that's where the similarities end. once you start adding little things like bolt ons or a simple set of cams, the k motors start pulling away.

i wont even get into the transmission specs. a k20aR trans crushes and B series ITR trans out there. and one key to being fast, is gearing. ALL of the fast drag cars are K motors. ALL of the fast honda challenge cars are K motors. people need to stop thinking it's just a fad and realize, its a reality. it's much better technology. a k20 head stock flows better than any of the best ported B series heads. that's why k20a swaps put an average of 220whp to the ground, with simple i/h/e combo. shoot, and ITR b18c with that combo would put down, what? 170, 180whp?

im not raggin' on H motor like most of you think, its great for a drag car. but eventually, everyone that wants to be fast, will need a K motor.

I needed this today thank you thank you

To OP if you want cheap start with D-series, B-Series, H-Series, K-Series. That order is price of swap and ease of installation to the most expensive/harder swaps.

.... dont you find it funny that you call a k swap a hassle?

i have personally boosted a D and done a k swap. the boosted D was more of a hassle.

trying to fit intercooler piping under the bumper and have it still look stock without hacking and cutting it to ****. tapping the oil pan and searching for oil leaks on a daily basis.

how about this..... people should NOT respond to friggan threads like this. especially if they dont personally have the engine swap they are bagging on.

im surprised toad let this thread exist. the kit could have searched the countless other K swap threads out there.

It will be okay, don't worry, it will be okay.

BRING OUT THE DOGS!

PS I said boosted D because I'm doing a B right now and it's costing me way more than it should have; not because I have any real partiality beyond K being the best had I had the money and knowledge.

you think k swaps are more of a hassle than trying to install charge pipes under the stock bumper and keeping them clean?

K swap is just as easy as a B swap. big deal, you gotta cut out a bracket and weld one in.

If you're a noob when it comes to fabbing it might be a hassle, It doesn't seem like a challenge at all, it actually looks like a cake walk. just expensive.

H2b is relatively inexpensize...average is around $3000...yes 3 grand if you know how to shop...

$750 H22A long block
$780 QSD H2B kit
$500 B-series Tranny
$50-$200 Axles
$500 Mounts
$150 Shift Linkage
$200 Clutch/Flywheel (stock)
$3080

Yes there a few set backs with the h2b, but it's all cosmetic...I don't know about everyone else, but I don't mind grinding a little and spacing my hood. Is hood clearance really worth the extra $2000?

Drops in like a b-series.

Please do not refer to me as an "idiot". Yes K-swaps are prolly best...but for the price, it's not a daily swap. H2B is more cost effective and is just under the k20. Sure if you add cams, bolt ons, etc to the k20 of course it's going to start pulling on a stock h22...do the same to the h22 and it's still a good run.

I feel H2B vs k20 $3000>$5000+

You forgot about cutting for the shifter box and making that work...

And what about the people that do not own a welder, nor know how to weld? Not everyone knows how to weld or has access to a welder. No disrespect, but just 'cuz you have everything and know how to do everything, doesn't mean that everyone else does.
