What's wrong?! Car backfires and dies upon startup....
First off, it's a b18b1. Well, lets start with a problem before this happend. I would be driving and it would bog out until about 3k rpm's and then take off. When it would do this it would throw code 3 and 43(map sensor and fuel system.) When it would do this I would turn off the car and turn it back on and it wouldn't be as noticable. Well, earlier I was driving down the road and it just started to bog out and slightly backfire so I put it in neutral and coasted to my house where it just died. When I went to start it again I try to rev it and the rpm's immediatly drop and it backfires then dies.
Any ideas on what is wrong would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

That was one thing I suspected but would it cause cel's to come on?

Ok, I checked the cam timing and it was right so it didn't jump a tooth. I ran a compression test and got 182, 182, 179, 182. I checked the vacuum lines and they were all hooked up. I replaced the fuel filter. I'm going to check ignition timing tomorrow. Also, when I start it I can mess around with the gas to keep it running for a second and then it dies. It doesn't really even rev to 1k. Any ideas?
Its possible that your fuel pump went. Can you hear it prime? My hatch did the same thing you described above. Bogging, then taking off. Finally it went out
Just follow through with your ecu codes first, If it reads map then replace or check your map wiring and vacuum. Whats your fuel pressure read? Are you getting fuel to each injector? Also can you varify each injector plug is receiving correct voltage?
I had this problem to find out about 3" past the injector clip under the loom, One wire tore off. Leaving one wire for that clip. That injector was malfuntioning causing bad hesitation around 3k rpm.
