Default Overheating problem

I have a 94 ej1 with a z6. runs hot. i put a new radiator on it and straight wired the fan. No steam coming out the tailpipe and no water in the oil. im thinking new thermostat before i break down and replace the head gasket. Does anyone have any other ideas what could cause this before i tear it down.?

Air in the system. You can test to see if the thermostat is working by feeling the difference in the temperature of the upper and lower radiator hoses.

Also, if you do decide to replace your thermostat test it in some heated/boiling water to see if it opens up. That way you will know if it was the culprit. Also, get a honda one not a generic ones. The cheap ones open at a viarity of different temperatures.

def. check for air in the system. when i was in iraq we had a hummer that overheated and we replaced the water pump and thermo and it still did it. turned out to be a looooooooooong *** air bubble that took 30 mins to bleed out..

also check your exhuast for good airflow sometimes when they plug up.. they can cause the motor to overheat excessively.
