Default high beams, but no low beams

i bought a set of hella gen 3 ballasts with phillips d2s bulbs with the custom h4 shield to fit the housing. why is it that they only work with high beams on and not low beams?

search.... covered by me already for 01 civics. Don't know your year, but in this case, more than likely, you need to have an additional wire to change to negative - controlled ground for low/high beams. confusing..yeah...also in that thread is a link to another thread with a diagram on how to test for what kind of relay (positive or negative) controlled.

well i can't really tell u how to wire / splice your current H4 socket..(assuming you have an '01 civic) but...

there should be a wire from ur d2s bulb negative to the common ground of your stock h4 socket....as mentioned before in my other thread, our cars are negative-control cars for the headlight relay. (if that makes any sense for you...)
you would just have to mess with the splicing / re-wiring... be careful not to break the bulb(s) or melt your stock wiring.
