Yet another P28 question...
OK, I think my ECU is fried. I bought it off of Ebay a while back. When I turn my key the check engine light doesn't come on, even for a second. Isn't that how you can determine if you ECU is bad? I heard that somewhere before that the check engine light is supposed to come on for a second or two when you turn the key. I unplugged my MAP sensor and my check engine light didn't come on. But it did mess up the idle for a second or two. If this is the case, it might explain why my VTEC has never engaged. I haven't ever really endulged in the whole ECU technical aspect before. The car DOES start and run fine. Except for the surging idle thing.

i bet you that your bulb for your check engine light don't work. because if you turn your car on and the check engine light don't come on then maybe your bulb is burnt. i would remove my cluster and replace the little bulb for the check engine.
