Default zdyne ecu starts base timin at 18* instead of 16* , what should i do ?

stock settin is 16* base timing at idle for my a6 motor.. zdyne has 18* set for base timing in the basemap.. will it be ok to set my dist to 18* and just retard a lil more spark then or what? cause on my other crx i ran zdyne at 18* and my dist was set to only 16* and i used a .75* per psi retard , but now ill be uppin total timing by 2 more * at idle so i should prob retard it like .9* per psi or so right?? ( if i match the dist timin to the zdyne timing of 18*)

edit: at 26 and 24HG vac timin is 16.2* then from 22hg -16hg its 18* till 900 rpm, so what is that? at idle my car is at about 18-20hg vacuum so i would assume base timing is 18* according to this basemap right? ?

final thing too is between 6300-7400 rpms my total timing on the tune i made is 19.8 and 13.7 ( 19.8 being @6300 rpms and 13.7@ 7400rpms, which i shift at 7K so im somewhere inbetween them two, i could prob get away with a .75 retard instead of a .8 per psi i think too right?? ) or should i just leave it alone and be safe at 19.8 * max for now??

are you sure its 16deg.? I always thought that it was 18*deg. Thats what it is on my Zdyne map. I would have to look and see what my total timing is at your specific rpms, but so you know, we have never had a problem with the timing on any of our SOHC's we built+boosted+tuned with the Zdyne SECU. I just tuned a buddy's built sohc ZC vtec on 24psi with .75deg per psi retard and it runs like a champ. Great A/F's (11:1) and breaks traction at the top of 3rd gear, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Edit: Has not been dyno'd on 24psi. Strictly a conservative street tune...FTW! Also, same setup ran 12.8 @ 116 on 15psi w/all weather street tires. Going to the track soon to test 24psi w/slicks. Should be considerably lower e.t.'s.

ok well thats good to know.. so u set base timing on the dist to 18* and thats also what ur zdyne basemap sets it at too right? and ya.. on my other st tune i made with the zdyne i ran a 12.7 with 15 psi stock block a6... i just wanna fine tune some odds and ends so i dont blow nothing on my more expensive motor im buildin..

i talked to zdyne and they said its not gonna hurt anything if i leave my distributor base timing at 16 and the basemap timing is set to 18.. so i dunno what to do
