I need to know If I need to run a Fmu untill I can get a Tune. I have a Hondata S200 ecu that I'm sure is runnig on a base map. As for fuel ,255 walbro Hp pump accell 40lb injectors aem rail and regulator. All on a B18b with a drag turbo kit.

 

I'd get a turbo basemap for you motor and stay out of boost. Why spend money on an fmu??

 

We'll I have a FMU. Just wondering if I should use It untill I can get a turbo map. It will be a month or two before I can get a tune

With injectors twice as big as stock what is an FMU going to do for you at idle and part throttle?

Like I said just need to know if its a good idea to run one untill I get a tune. Just to make sure i'm getting the proper air fuel mix.

 

i have never seen any car run GOOD with an FMU, i have seen them run but not like i want mine to idle.

No we haven't gonw back in time, Yes i have hondata, No i have no way get or load a base tune with out going to the tunner. No i cant just jump in the car and go to the tunner the place that i want to get it tuned is 6 hours away. I know I need to get a tune I'm planning on getting it tuned. I't might be a month or so before i can get there. You must have not read my question. My question was "Is it a good idea to run a FMU untill I can get to a tunner??". So from what I've seen from my search and from this thread I should not run a FMU.

 

NO its not a good idea...IMO

 

It will probably work fine if you have a walbro fuel pump, but FMU is designed to work on stock injectors. Just install the smallest wastegate spring and dont get into boost too much. I ran one for 1.5 years.

 

What would a good fuel preasure be? 28 to 35 psi ??

 

the s200 should serve your tuning needs if you know how to use it. y didn't you buy s300 but anyways. don't buy a fmu you don't need it hondata will do invest in a wideband and tune it by watching your knock count and raise or lower fuel as needed. find a good base map and tune from it. tuning is easier than you think read the manual and follow the steps.

 

if you have hondata, then back away from the FMU....it wont do you any good

 

Either dont drive the car untill you get it tuned or take off the turbo till ur ready for a tune. No sense in risking anything.

Dont waste your time with a FMU, dont bother driving around out of boost. DO IT RIGHT!

The FMU should have no effect at idle since it increases fuel pressure based on boost. At idle you should see vaccum not boost. The larger injectors will effect his idle though.

To the OP: Just find a good basemap and try to stay out of the boost. Bum lots of rides from buddies to keep the miles off you car.

 

Don't install a turbokit unless you can get it tuned.

 

all these bandwagon FMU haters... dont get me wrong there are better options, but if your CR is below 10.2:1 and you have stock injectors and an upgraded fuel pump, its pretty safe, i know a few people with that set up for years... its not that bad fo a set up and the car is still pretty damn quick... i doubt you'll make over 220whp with one but like i siad there still good.

Until they start leaking and you don't know it and fuel pressure isn't rising like it should and you blow your motor.

I've had Vortech FMU's right out of the box that leak boost pressure. We're a Vortech dealer and just about every single kit we do that includes one we toss them in the garbage and get bigger injectors and tune it properly.

 

Well like I said I have Accell 40lb injectors and a 255hp fuel pump and the Hondata S200. After searching again and reading up on more older posts I decided not to use the FMU. Still need to know what kind of fuel preassure I sould run?? and has anyone had their car tuned at Central Florida Turbo?? Thats where I plan on having mine tuned. Or anyone had any luck with a tunner close to Tifton GA? I've looked at the Tunner thread just never heard anything about any of the tunners in ga.
