im new to preludes and have a couple question

im new to preludes and have a couple question
first i have a 3rd gen its a 1988
my questions are kind of newbish but oh well here they are.
1. there is a little square hole from the trany to the block towards the front of the tranny. what is it for?
2. how do i go about checking how much tranny fluid i have?
3. my car idle surges somtimes what could be the problem with that?
4. i also have a leaky sunroof what do i have to change it coming from the passanger side in the back
?

1. checking timing
2. assume you have manual transmission, so you generally dont need to. auto's have a dipstick
3. plenty of threads.. search for hunting, idle etc
4. check drain tubes are free from blockage and check/replace seal. however, this problem could well be caused by a leaky rear washer jet. seal this up with some silicone
