Just bought a 1996 Accord EX Automatic
Question is when I drive the RPMs go up and shifts down and when it does go down it does a hard jerk what could be the problem? Like vroooom to 3000k and jerks down and goes back up and jerk ...etc.

Definetly the tranny.. the 5th gens auto tranny is the most jerky transmission when switching gears.. I couldnt tell ya the real reason.. check your tranny fluid.. it may need to be swapped..

i would check the tranny fluid and change it if the fluid is low. that made a world of difference back when i had my 94 automatic. its not hard at all.

Buying a new transmission or having it refurbished... But thats not the case.. if it works it works.. these f22 series trannys are damn strong.. i couldnt possibley tell you how much i have beaten and grinded my tranny.. she still keeps on ticking..

its better for a tranny to engage as fast as possible, so that jerking wont hurt ur tranny, itll jus be a lil annoying. id say go for the tranny fluid
