Default D16-b16 head question

I was wondering, would I still make b16 power if I were to keep my stock d16z6 block, but put the head from a b16a3 on it? Also, would there be any extra wiring for the Extra cam to the ECU? Im pretty new to hondas, but it seems like it'll work. BTW, im talking about using the b16 head, Valve cover, vtec stuff, and intake/exhaust.

any thoughts?

Read more about the different motors and you'll discover that this is a silly question. No it won't work.

Sure it's possible, I've just never seen anybody do it before.

It's actually a very popular swap in the northern states. The d16 block will lose you about 3-9whp from the compression difference. Good Luck

i asked about this a while ago and everyone who posted was adamant that i couldn't be done, are you sure that is can be done...and when you say you will lose power is that in comparison with b16 power(160hp) or the d16 power(130)? so will you be at 125 or 155?

so the best idea is still the y8 head swap?

heres the situation. I have a 93 del sol si with 2 blown d16z6 (thrown rods from what i know about the car/motors from prev. owner) and Im looking to find the best parts of the 2 motors, and turn/buy a crank. i was just wondering the best heads to run with the d16, so i can go ahead and install them while the motor (s) are out and accessible. I have 300.00 credit at my local salvage yard (trade in old ******** that dont run anymore) and need some small things (shift ****, stock tails-- i hate freakin euros, etc) and was going to look for whatever would be best.

the car is pretty clean, all but for the hood (no idea what happened there) and Im eventually gonna boost it.

if your motor is blown and you have a $300 credit i would jus look for a used y8 or z6 to replace the one you have they usually run around that and you can probably talk the guy down it would save you the headache of finding out what is wrong with your motor and then fixing it. but it is up to you the car looks clean i hope you have some fun

That's your best bet.

That or drop an LS in there.

well, it looks like i might have a used running motor for less than 200.00, but id have to go get it (3 or 4 hour trip) in alabama. Thats most likely what ill do, since im making a fun daily driver, im keeping ac. i might drop PS, so i want to keep A stock option in there. the ls swap is very alluring, but i just want to keep ac. Also, it would be a little more pricey, and im trying to stay on the cheap side.

on the upside, i went and ordered a new hood, a new oem fuel pump to replace the old one, and a tail light to replace the euros. the left side light got broken, any one wanna trade 2 euros (in the pic) for a left tail light?
