why dont you go check that code instead of just unplugging the battery and plugging it back in? you could have some low oil pressure.

is Vtec fluid right beside the pixie dust and magic lattern on the gold plated firewall? hahaha

Seriously tho, there is no such thing as Vtec Fluid, sadly some people just suck at life....I had this same issue with my '01 GSR, my CEL comes on if I stay in Vtec for a long period of time....usually 5 min of just cruising around 4600rpm....i found out my motor was loosing oil pressure (crucial for Vtec engagement)

check your oil, 95% of Vtec problems are oil issues(this is what my Honda dealer told me)

also if you want to check everything...take off the Vtec solenoid and clean the filter, sometimes a little dust can get in there and mess things up....this happened to my friends '00 GSR

The ECM/PCM has to have these prerequisites before it will allow the VTEC solenoid to activate:

Vehicle Speed
RPM
Engine Coolant Temp.
Oil Pressure
Throttle Position

Also, if you have a CEL it won't work either. If you can make sure that all of these sensor are reporting to the ECM/PCM correctly, then you can start looking for some kind of mechanical problem/interference (dirt on the spool valve screen, blockage in the oil passages etc...) I am not sure what code 8 is on an OBDII Integra, but I would get the code checked by Acura or someone that can tell you what code it is. Should be like a Pxxx. Hope this helps.
