Default Speedo going crazy on d16y7

So my speedo is going crazy and bouncing around like nuts. Any ideas? VSS perhaps?

Yea, VSS is defective, but also check the wires too, a bad ground would cause an incomplete signal. Id do that first.

Chances are, because of the way the plug is, theres water/liquid pooling in it. The way the plug sits can cause it to act liek a bowl, and can collect liquid, which would cause the sensor to not put out a correct signal, ( or any at all for that matter) Id check it for that. It can be caused from recent motor work (spilled coolant that made its way in that area)

In some cases, ppl have removed the sensor, simply drained the plug of any liquid sitting, dry it out, then put it back in and it works normal again.
