jumpy odometer.
my cluster has been acting weird lately. the RPMs are fine but sometimes the gauge that tells me how fast i'm going, jumps up and down. and at times, it would sit at 0. 80% of the time it works normally though. what could be the problem? i checked the VSS and it looks OK to me.

Re: jumpy odometer. (Unjockable)
The connector for the VSS probably got water in it. I had that happen to mine a couple of years back, and I replaced the sensor with a d-series, and it didn't do it anymore. Try that.

I just depends on whether or not the pins have corroded apart. I have the same problem in my '99 EX, but I replace the VSS and the plug but it still didn't fix it. I have a bad connection somewhere between my cluster and the plug on the VSS.
Check the pins to see if they are corroded.

is the fuse in the front or under the dash? the plug/pin is not corroded.

If it's an automatic.. think about when the last time you changed your transmission fluid was...
I had the same problem and I hadn't changed the fluid in a few years to that point. Flushed out the fluid and it got back to normal.

Re: (civicmon)
if it's the sensor..just change the sensor..if it keeps doing it then the plug is bad. had this problem to...get another plug from scrap wire harness and re-connect it to your wire harness. Should make things all better. Good luck!
