Default 1993 Civic - low idle

Hi. I have a honda civic 1993 dx hatchback.

my engine started idling really low..it has 266k on it.

if i turn on my headlights. it will even idle lower....is an example..

any help?

i'd start by checking for old cracked vaccuum lines.

What is "low" to you? RPMs?

yeah check that. could be a loose hose or just a messed up on. another thing u can chack out is your IACV (idle air control valve) sometimes those go back or get clogged up inside. try taking it off and cleanning it out with carb cleanner. and another thing it might be your timming. check all of those and im pretty sure you will find your problem. The most common cause of idle probs on most honda is coolant temp sensor, low coolant, or as mentioned previously the IAC solenoid. In rare cases, there is an idle-up solenoid for a/c PS, or other heavy loads put on the motor at idle speed. This is what makes the idle kick up when you have pwr steering, or turn on the ac, etc. Try cleaning the tb first & chk coolant befor dropping 350 on an IAC (never buy a used IAC) Is the MIL on?
