Default Wastegate Size

Running a H23 Turbo on 15psi witch is 310whp. Sounds like to me the wastegate is shuttering some when I get on it. Im using a Tial 38mm. Do I need to go bigger or is it just coming from the dump tube. Im using a Turbo XS Boost controller and when we were tunning the car we had some problems with the controller not letting full boost at once. It would go 14.2 then 14.5 then 15.1 then 14.9. Its a brand new controller and now hereing the shutter noise Im wondering if I need to go bigger on wastegate. Any info would be great. These numbers are from a Mustang Dyno also.

Thanks Pat

i would think wastegate too but not because of that noise... sounds like your having boost creep issues, also make sure the vac lines running to the w'gate aren't like kinked up or somthing...

as for your shutter noise... couldn't really tell ya... (sounds like a BOV?)

Yah no kinks in the vacum lines. Im running same vacum source for wastegate and BOV. The BOV is A HkS SSQ maybe thats my problem. I dont know.
Thanks For info.

try getting the wastegate to a seperate vacuum source, maybe you are not getting good enough vacuum to supply it.

Consider this: if you go bigger on the wastegate it will only let you bypass more exhaust pressure and therefore make less boost. I'd look somewhere else first....
