shifter problem

Default shifter problem

so here's another problem i've ran into..i put my shift linkage back in today and when i put it into gear..its able to move as if is in neutral going left/right..but i think its in gear still cause i tried putting it into 1st moving it around (while in first still) and putting it back to first and i couldnt..what could be wrong?..or does this even make sense haha

Bushings are shot.
Buy some aftermarket Polyurethane ones.
Problem solved

yea its an aftermarket one..where do i buy polyurethane busings for the short shifter?

I had that problem too when I first got the car I have now, but it already
had new bushings like the ones pictured. In my case, I had to replace the
black rubber piece that goes around the pivet-ball part of the shifter.
It's has little plastic splines inside that help hold it in place. The bottom rubber part
of it had completly rotted away on mine and it wobbled something fierce while in gear!
If you buy those bushing pictures above and it doesn't fix the problem, I'd
go to Majestic Honda's website and try to find an exploded view of the shifter assembly to get a part number for the peice i'm trying to describe, or you could go to a junkyard and find one in good condition.

Easy fix!

EDIT:

Off of Majestic Honda's website:

Part no. 22868 'seat' the splined peice $8.05 #8 in picture
Part no. 22872 'dust seal' the rubber peice $6.85 #11 in picture

I'd try a junk yard

Dead bushings will just effect the "smoothness" of the shift.

the shift linkage pin is the one going going verticle right? cause i lost the pin nd just used a bolt/nut...maybe dats the problem?!
