Gas Smell Plus more
I turned the car on twice tonight and I smelled gasoline coming from the car. Ive been doing some minor work myself on the car over the past few days, so me being a smacked *** probally did something to cause this. Is never smelled like this before.
I changed the battery to Optium, took out the old battery case housing to put new battery in so that battery cables can reach terminals. Changed the PVC filter, spark plug wires, and spark plugs. (The engine is not firing properly since Ive done the spark plugs either) Im gonna have to check them in the morning. Also I found oil on some of the old spark plugs. Any suggestions as to what the gas smell is. Im using 93 and the stock lude only cause 91???

most plugs come pre gapped these days, but its worth checking. did you install the plug wires back in the right order?
nothing you did to the car would make you smell gas unless you were cranking it over for a long period of time with no luck starting. look at your fitting going from the fuel line to the fuel rail. and also the fittings on the fuel filter. a loose one of those will smell up your car pretty quick.

Its amazing how these cars run even without cylinders. I recently did a valve adjustment on my H23 and when I started it up I said "oh no its running kind of rough I will have to check the timing" only to find out that I swapped two wires and it was only running on 2 cylinders ha ha. I didnt know that a car could start with only two cylinders. That gas smell was probably coming from the unburnt fuel in the cylinder with the wire unplugged.
i've ran it on 2 cylinders before..i thought something was terrible wrong, stopped on the side of the road to find that water had gotten into two of the spark plug holes...

just fyi ngk plugs do not come gapped correctly. they're too small at about .9mm out of the box.
