Default weird spark plug problem.

I recently had my h23 rebuilt and now its not starting. I have new spark plug wires and also spark plugs that are only 2 months old. i replaced the main relay. I also have a new starter. battery is good.

so i checked my spark plugs to make sure they are sparking and when i pulled them out i noticed that the three closest to the driver side had gas on the bottom portion. and the closest to the passenger side was black without any gas in the same area that the others had gas. I figure the gas is from flooding the engine from trying to start so much but what do you think is wrong with the one that is black? idk if this is my problem for sure but i figured i'd ask to find out if it was a good start.

i made a little picture to help out.
(not my spark plugs just ones i found on the net.)

So it was running after the rebuild for a while, right?

What happened when it stalled?

Is the compression still good?

Have you tried drying the plugs for a bit then seeing if they spark?

Try leaving the plugs out for a while and see if you can't get some of the gas in the cylinders to evaporate.

Is it cranking around faster than normal?

Its been running off and on lately. mostly off. I know they spark. is there any big problem with the one being black and not having any gas in it while the rest are all wet with gas?

mostly it just cranks and cranks. recently when it would crank all of the instrument panel lights and everything will flicker on and off. it hasn't turned over at all in a while.

also cranking is the same as always.

Your battery might be getting low, but that isn't why the car isn't starting.

Have you messed with the firing order? Check it.

Get or borrow a compression tester, and see what you get.

If he's got spark, the dist is fine.

He seems to have fuel, so it sounds like either timing or compression is at fault here.

well maybe since no one will say i will post what mine is and you guys can say if its right or not

this is assuming cylinder one is closest to the distributer and it goes 1-4 strait across.

that is right...If u have the wires in the wrong position the car wont crank over and you will hear a loud bang..aka misfire... Im honestly thinking based on this reading your not getting a spark what so ever...how do u have proof your getting a spark...the reason i think not is because your intake stroke is working just fine ur getting the fuel mixture in hence the debris on ur spark plugs...the compression stroke is fine because ur seeing the debris but right before the powerstroke ur not sparking for some reason...u need to check the ignition coil/replace it

placed each spark plug to a ground individually and each fired. i just tried to start it and it just sits there and cranks but it like halts and the electrical stuff in the cabin all go off and then it cranks again until the next electrical "black out." it wanted to turn over twice. i checked the spark plugs and they all smell like a bit of gas. no longer is the first one black.

keep in mind the "black outs" in my cabin are only for a fraction of a second.

Wait I think that is wrong. I had the same problem with you and it was my firing order. My car started but it was misfiring like crazy. Then it wasn't starting at all and my spark plugs had fuel on them. The firing order is 1-3-4-2. You have it 1-3-2-4.

I replaced my spark plugs but if you don't want to, you can just let them dry.

Check that thread out. Your problem sounds like the one I had a while back.

alright going back outside i'm going to do a few things. dry off spark plugs.
keep gas peddle in and do 15 second starts and try to get the gas out
and make sure or fix the wires to get it to work.

alright i tried again and it worked!! it started for like a second then bogged. but now i tried to start it will peddle all the way in to clear it up some more and then i tried and now lights and everything went off. and it was cranking much slower then usual. then started just clicking. and battery is at 11.6 volts. so idk if i just gotta give it time. did i make something worse or what? i'll let it sit over night but i cleared that problem up. thing is when i got my car back i changed the plugs one at a time so the plug wires were that way when i got it back!!!
