GREDDY 18G kit And a REAL QUICK CARB question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I add this Intercooler upgrade http://robearracing.com/pd_greddy_ic_kit_civic.cfm will It VOID the CARB.
I know the 18g Kit is CARB legal, How can Adding this cause it to not be carb legal.
Better yet, when I take it to get smogged....how will they know the CARB # for the greddy 18g kit does not apply to the intercooler as well.

Back when I bought my kit, although I don't live in CA, BOVs and intercoolers were not included if they look up the number on the sticker. You'd have to call Greddy to see if things have changed because the Edelbrock kits have intercoolers and non-recirculating Tial BOVs. Just get the intercooler and remove it during inspection time.

Depending on what year your car is... if it's obd2, the CARB number was rejected in 2003. Contact GReddy directly info@greddy.com. They will tell you if the kit itself is even legal and any other CARB info you want. My kit was NOT legal even though it had a CARB # and City-Speed.com assured me it was legal, I was pissed.
Their BOV are off-road use only. If you want a legal kit with intercooler and BOV, go Edelbrock...but it sounds like you already have a greddy kit. Welcome to the dark side of the law

^^^^^^^ Your RIGHT. I just called GREDDY and the 18g kit is not Even CARB legal anymore. Something about upgrading the E-manage a few years back and is now pending CARB.
Are they saying that the kits with e-manage aren't legal, but the old blue box kits are? If they say it's been pending for a few years, I doubt it will happen. Is it already installed? I'd return it, if possible.

That's what I don't understand about the Edelbrock kits. There's no way to recirculate the Tial. How can this be legal?

OBD2 kits were rejected after being approved. It's not pending anything. If you had a kit with a blue box, it's not legal anymore either. OBD1 Greddy kit=CARB approved.
I don't know how the open purge BOV in the Edelbrock kit is CARB legal, but it is.
Here you go, the CARB numbers for everything ever approved: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/a...y.php
Notice the "Modifications allowed" on the newer Greddy kits have been blanked out.

...</TD></TR></TABLE> I take that back, I don't see any mention of a BOV:
Modifications Allowed:
The Performer X Turbo Kit includes the following main parts: Garrett T-28 Turbocharger (model # GT28R for SOHC applications and model # GT28RS for DOHC applications), equipped with a waste gate set at 7 psi., an intercooler, Performer X intake manifold with four additional injectors that are controlled by a stand alone controller, exhaust manifold, and an intake air tube with an open element air cleaner attached. High pressure fuel hoses that are modified are replaced with a Gates SAE30R9 fuel hose.

Good link! Remind me never to move to California, unless I can get doctor approved kgb and live in the Northern region. I don't see how you guys can stand it there.
What's to prevent them from revoking anything that has been previoiusly approved? Wouldn't owners of this kit have a lawsuit against Greddy if their car no longer passes inspection?
I was going to mention that the BOV was missing from the Edelbrock description, but I see you caught that.
