i drive a 94 civic vx and my transmission makes a winding noise at stand still, then when its in gear when i start moving it starts winding even louder. it happened gradually from first then the noise made its way to second now its going on to third. what do you guys think.

 

Manual or automatic and does it make the sound with the clutch pressed in?

 

sounds like you have a racing tranny with straight cut dogtooth gears, bad ***, is the sound coming from your tranny or where the axles connect to it?

 

oh forgot yhat detail, it makes a winding noise when im not stepping on the clutch, but when i step on the clutch the noise is gone.

it could be your axles.
