charging up a battery
hey guys whats the proper way to charge a battery and what setting do you set it at 12v 2a or 12 6a? i just bought a charger off a guy and it has no instructions. thanks

if the battery is dead you are supposed to charge is at one volt for 100hrs but ppl dont usually do that b/c it takes to long. you can jus plug it in at like 12 volts for a few hours and you should be good you alternator may not like you for a little while but you should be fine. that is what we did to all our dead cars we had at the dealership i worked at.

i wouldn't recommend the 1V charge on a 12 V battery, you'll get nowhere real fast...
Trickle charge the battery using the 12V 2A setting, and let this charge for a few days (~2). when you are ready to use the battery install it in whatever vehicle, bump the current up to 6A and then start it up, let the alternator and VR take care of the rest. Only use the chargers 12V 6A setting on a battery if you plan on using it for alot of inrush current, i.e. starting your car with it.
Charging your battery normally at the 12V 6A may cause overheating, excess hydrogen release, and possibly degraded battery life if left on too long. Hope this helps.
