Wheel lug stuck!
hey everyone. i had a problem wit my VSS. but niw i have another problem. i have 17" adr visions with the thin wall lungs. someone tried to take them but failed. what they did do is mess up the lug so i cant put1 a tool in. when i finally found a way of spinning the lug, it seems it takes for ever of spnning and its not even coming off
it just keeps spinning and spinning. i think something broke. i forgot what its called. its the little stud thing that u screw the lug into. i think somehow that snapped. can someone help me or tell me how i can fix this?

its stripped. Try and get some vice grips on there. Pull and spin at the same time and see if you can get it off. Its spinning on the same thread right now and wont go forward without some force.
I had the same problem. Had to take it to a shop and get it drilled out, which is what i think they did. It was free cas i got discount tire to pay for the repairs
ok so all its doing is spinning on the same thread? ok im gonna try using the vice tomorow. i was scared that it broke the little stud that you screw it on to.
same thing happened to me. it was that the stud was spinning in the hub. not sure how to fix it because i had a friend that worked at a tire shop fix it for me.i think he cut the stud somehow and installed a new stud

Sounds like the stud is stripped or broken. try putting presure on the back of the stud and them try to take off the lug. If not most likely it has to be drilled out or shaved. Most shops can do this easy. Cost no more than $25. and they will replace the stud for that price too.

have you ever done that before. It is nearly impossible to put pressure on the back of the stud. and i guarnetee you if you take it into any decent reputable shop they are going to charge an hour of labor becuase of what is all involved you will be looking at $60to $80. To do it correctly you have to press apart the hub, in order to press it apart you need to take the spindle/ hub off, the front is much harder than the rear. but if your not going to do it yourself it will be costly.

if the lug is spinning freely and w/ ease, then the spines on the stud are probably stripped and are spinning freely in the hub (as mentioned earlier).
I had this same problem when I first purchased my lude. When searching for help online, people who had this problem said they had shops actually cut their wheel!
I said, F that and took a torch to it and melted it off (only damage to the wheel was black soot that wiped right off). But i would try drilling if you are cautious about damaging the wheel and/or unexperienced w/ a torch. Also, if shops do charge no more than $25 to do it, then please do that instead.

Bringing this back from the dead because I still have the problem.
I was doing research and unfortunately do have a broken wheel stud. I was hoping I could get it out w/out torching but i can't think of any other way. Does anyone else have any idea's?
And what do you guys think about drilling?
