ECU chipped VS. NOT
SO what do people think what is better chipped or not?
Obviously depneds on mods and what not,
but what about the pro's and con's of putting a chip in your ECU?
Will it cause damage to your ECU or other components or not?
Is it worth the money?

well what are you doing...it depends on the mod, if your gunna put an air intake and exhaust header on your d15b7 dont chip it
if your gunna turbo your built k20 then you may want to think about it

I'd prefer either a tuned, or stock ECU. No need to get, say, a "Skunk2" chip off eBay. I'd stay away from generic basemap chips altogether.
If you have extensive internal mods, a bigger, more modern engine, and/or an F/I setup, I'd definitely suggest a chipped and tuned ECU.

COrrect me if im wrong, but using K'pro, it wouldnt be considered chipped, wouldnt it be considered a form of an EMS or piggyback when you do it with a K series?
Chipped would be like a p28 for any 92-00 civic, with companys such as Crome and uberdata.
Just my $0.02

Yea, i was debating that. You could call it that then i guess. I just wasnt totally sure, so i thought id put it out there.

There are no "cons" to running a "chipped" ecu. If you have the suppoting mods, you'd be a fool to use the stock ECU.
p.s. bullshit eBay moogen, spork, etc. chips are exempt from this statement.

ok, thanks for all the feedback. I had herd to many things from people who had no clue so I wanted to find out for sure.
I have all th basic bolt on's (intake, full exhaust, short throw, clutch) and wasn't going to chip it but thought I'd check anyway.
