Hi, sometimes the ac will work sometimes it wont. it'll go for 5mins or 35mins or not at all. The system is charged up and the compressor seems to work. Anybody have any ideas?

The soldered pins in the ac unit board become brittle and won't make contact properly with the plug that connects to the unit. It's a common problem for older Honda vehicles and I have found this to be the case on almost all Preludes. If you take out your stereo you will find there is a plug that going upwards that connects into the ac unit, giggle it while the A/C is on and you should feel the a/c working. To fix your problem you will have to remove the ac unit from the dash and resolder the connector pins. Try tapping your dashboard as the ac is running and sometimes that makes the a/c start working although that is a temporary solution lol. There was a write-up somewhere, I'll seeif I can find it and get back to you.

Wow what a great writeup. I thought that i had a bad plug and my solution so far has been to move my stereo to the bottom slot, move my storage slot to the top, and cut a hole in the top so when my A/C goes out I reach up and jiggle the wires until it works again ha ha.

Hi, I soldered up the circut board. It didnt seem to make a difference. But I have noticed someting odd, the highbeams work intermittantly (different problem I thought), when they dont work, the ac works intermittantly. When the lights work, the ac works great. None of the probs Im having show up in a search (so its not like im being lazy). Anyway, anyone know if there is an A/C relay. I cant find a A/C diagram anywhere, manuals or web. Well Ill go back to ripping the car apart.

I would check all the connectors that plug into the fuse box near your feet on the drivers side. Pull that whole plastic pannel off and check. That is where all the connectors that connect from the dash to the main car harness. I have found loose plugs and connectors on different ludes from time to time. At least it is someplace to start.

Dang. Maybe this is why the A/C in my car doesn't work! I'm gonna have to try this out.
