B18b into '99 civic si questions
Hey all....first time poster here. these questions have been asked tons already, and i've searched these threads to the best of my ability to try and find previous related questions, but to no avail. i'm looking at replacing my civic's blown d16y8 with the engine from a '96 integra se (5 speed). My car is auto, so i know this would be quite a task. My question(s) is/are: how much fabrication is necessary to do this kind of swap? I know about holes in floorboards and the one through the firewall, but with the whole integra front end at my disposal, is this all that i'll need? will mounts from the teg require any kind of fabrication to the frame, or are they pretty close to a direct bolt up?
Has anybody done this exact swap before? if so, any input would be great! Also, if anybody has any links to previous threads, feel free to post up those too!

May I suggest that while you're going through with this, you see if you can get a hold of a GSR or B16 transmission. Or even a Type R
. The downfall of the B18B is it's transmission due to the gearing being so long, and you may not be happy with it if you leave it on. Trust me, I just made sport of an Integra with the LS motor and (most likely) stock transmission last night, with my SOHC VTEC engine (Not that I condone street racing
).
IMO, it'll be worth it to make use of that engine's modest power, with some good gearing to mate it to. Just a suggestion.

thanks blackout...i'll keep it in mind, but basically i want something to get my car in running order again...don't really care how fast it is!
what do you guys think of spending $500 bucks on a shell with the motor and tranny that had 220xxx km's on it? i just need to get my car running again!!

mmmm....pretty picutres?? lol....i'll keep on searching i suppose!</TD></TR></TABLE>
Your Si mounts won't work, because their d series mounts from your d16y8. I'm guessing your 99 Si is Canadian, because the Si's down their are like our EX's that come with d16's. So you will need 99-00 Civic SiR mounts (if you live in Canada), or 99-00 USDM Civic Si B16 mounts.
