Power Slot Brake Rotors...
I'm pretty sure I scrapped up my front left brake rotor from not getting new brake pads quick enough so i've been looking at rotors.. optautosalon has Power Slot's for $72/pair.. I was wondering if these are any better then just buying the rotors from where i get my brakes put on? Anybody have any idea how long it should take to put on new rotors and pads? Just trying to get things sorted out before I go to the shop to get these things put on.. thanks.
sup i just installed powerslots on my gsr and it took me about 15 min on each side
but when you re-install dont for get to grease the two pins thats a part of the caliper i love these rotors so far there really good

I have had powerslot rotors for maybe 25,000 miles now. I would say they're good, but not great unless you're racing and will throw them away at the end of the race. The problems:
1) They're still underweight for the integra. Low thermal mass=high likelihood of warping.
2) You can't turn them once they are warped.
I'll be replacing the front powerslot rotors with redrilled Type-R rotors from fastbrakes.com (and upgrading the calipers as well). Where brakes are concerned, bigger definitely equals better!

Good point.. heard of many complaints about them warping? I haven't seen any posts on here about power slots.. atleast in this section anyways... The type-r rotors dont fit the LS right?

i have had them on my car for about 15k and they work good. i have stainless lines and aem pads (nissin) as well. i think it works better than the stock set up.
go to http://www.groupbuycenter.com
they have some crossdrilled slotted rotors for $50. you can always get some OE Qualitee OEM lookin Brembo rotors from summitracing for $35

Mine warped about 12K miles ago. I'm also kind of hard on the brakes, but that what they're there for.
You're right, Type-R brakes don't directly fit the LS (or GS-R, for that matter). BUT, Brian Hasty (fastbrakes.com) sells '94 prelude rotors redrilled for the Integra. A pair of those along with calipers from a '98+ Accord V6 will fit (with a little work), and they'll work under 15" wheels.
They're considerably bigger than stock brakes, which means not only will they give you more stopping power (you improve both the swept area and the braking moment), but also you're far less suceptible to warping, because the heavier rotors don't heat cycle as quickly.

Unless you're driving a show car or putting in a qualifying lap, avoid cross-drilled rotors. I can't say much about how easily they warp from personal experience, but it's pretty clear that you remove a lot of material by cross drilling, which really reduces the weight, and as I said before, Integra brakes are pretty undersized already. Cross-drilling is worse than slotting because the holes act as stress raisers, increasing the stress concentration in the area around the hole. This is true whether the hole is drilled, cast, melted, whatever.
The advantage to cross-drilled (like slotted) rotors is that they allow pad gasses to exhaust, which reduces pad fade. Also, in racing situations, lightening the brakes can be a benefit. But again, this assumes you have brakes that are heavy enough to begin with.

i was just chekcing out autocarparts.com.. they have axxis front brake pads for $70.. more then the aem's.. they supposed to better? says they're made of asbestos, whats the deal?
if they are not upgraded rotors in terms of size, and mass don't get them.
the stock rotors have little enough mass, and warp easily, if you get some rotors that are the same size as stocks but have holes and stuff drilled and cut in them, you are taking away precious material that could be used to help dissapate heat, this will transfer rather quickly into warped rotors.
the best thing you can do if you want to upgrade your brake system is to put bigger rotors on it, and matching multi-pot calipers.

I looked into slotted and/or drilled rotors.. but decided not to because a lot of people said they warped and cracked at the drilled holes.. I went w/ Brembo blanks instead to replace my warped factory rotors..
they suck....go way bigger or use brembo blanks.....cyrogenically treating and heat treating rotors will improve they're life.
Good slotted and Cross drilled rotors have this done first...Then they are treated...they are specifically designed to be drilled and slotted...thats why they last...thats also why the come in the expensive brembo etc. packages that you cannot afford.
PowerSlot etc. rotors were designed and made as blanks and then slotted and drilled as an after thought. This makes them very prone to stress craking and warping. Not at all worth it IMO.
Jody- who is sorry this s so long.
