loose timing belt + car die + cranked it several times = vent valves????
ok im trying to get some opinions here i guess my other title didnt work that well..
here is my situation.
1995 delsol d16z6
car just died, tried many times to restart but won't. After the usual battery of ignition and fuel test I decided to take off the valve cover to check the timing belt just in case. The timing belt was slipping. Getting the timing belt and installed can be done but is there a way to check for bent valves without removing the head or am I just screwed and should start looking for a new head.
i still gotta take off the bottom cover to make sure if the timing belts teeth are messed up or if it was a bad tensioner. the belt wont come off when i pull on it.
it die on me while i was on a stop and i was about to move.. took the clutch a lil and all of the sudden it die.
thanks

Well, you could just fix the timing belt issue and then start it up and pray.
The only way to know for sure is to remove the head. You could wait and see until you get the belt fixed, then start it up, but if you do that and have a bent valve, you risk damaging your pistons as well.

set the car to tdc again, and RR the timing belt properly, crank it. if you have bent vavles you dont need a new head, a machine shop or you can replace it. we used to flip 350 sbc heads in highschool to pay for our heafty snap on bill

at this moment yes.. i gotta check the timing belt. ( remove the bottom cover ) and see what was wrong. after i guess i gotta crank it or check compression to check for bent valves..
i was just posting to see if anyone had gone through this before..

i have, it ended up being that i didnt install the 2nd waher on the timing belt so it slipped off just enough to get a couple teeth out, also happened to me at work once
but just re set everything and then hand crank if your scurrrred
to see if there is excessive resitence (after you have removed the plugs)
checking for compression is also a very efective way to check for bent valves, but as it stands i doubt you fucked up your head enough to buy a new one
