my clutch feel real soft. i bought my 93 civic ex about a month ago. it was sed to have a new clutch but it feels real easy to push. it doesnt slip at all and it grips real good. is there a kind of clutch that u can buy so the pressure plate pushes in real easy?? im not worried because it grabs good and doesnt slip but i was jus wonderin..... thx

 

Does it ever stay down, or does it always come back up?

If it stays down sometimes, you might have air in the lines.

I'd try bleeding the clutch system anyway.

If you bleed it and no change, I wouldn't worry about it.

 

no its always come bak up. it is full on fluid too so.... also does my car come stock with rear disk brakes?? thx man

It depends, does it have ABS? Can you not look at the back brakes on your car?

Regarding the soft clutch, how long has it felt like that for? The entire time you've had it? Maybe you're used to the stiffness of a clutch cable like the one of a CRX and not the softness of a hydro powered tranny like the 93 Civic?

 

i can see the disk brakes barelly, it has abs. the clutch was like that ever since i got it. a month ago. it is in good adjustment and everything, about an inch of play in the peddle.

Yeah, that's possible too.

I got an ACT Stage 1 in my '97 EX, so when it comes from driving that for awhile to driving my Jetta or any other manual car it's like planting that clutch through the floorboard the first couple of times :-|.

 

JUST ADD CLUTCH FLUID TO THE RESEVOIR, I GOT ABS ALSO, AND IT DOES THE SAME. OPEN THE CAP TO THE RESEVOR AND SEE IF IT NEEDS MORE.

 

are all hydros easier to push in then a crx?? i jus got done driving a 91 civic and it was stiff as hell. the resevoir is all set too.

Yeah, hydros are easier to push than cable. Though you get used to either.

Did this just "start" all of a sudden or has it been going on since you bought the car?

You're probably just not used to the pedal feel - civics have a very soft pedal on the stock clutch.

 

inspect your system if you think there is a problem. start at the master, check the bottom for possible leaks. from there check the lines for any damage/leaking. get to your slave cylinder and make sure your bleeder is on tight/ no leaking/damage. if you really want to get into it, replace all the seals in your master and slave for good measure, its cheap and does take long, as long as you've got some help to bleed the system afterward.

the general idea behind the hydro-clutch system was to be a more daily-driver friendly clutch. it's def a less mechanical feel then a cable. unless its a completey dead feeling or you're getting clutch slip, i wouldnt worry

 

its been going on sice i got the car. i dont think there is anything wrong, its not like i can drive it through the floor, its jus a lot different then my cale one. it doesnt slip at all it grabs fine so i think its jus im not used to it.thx guys

It's probably just because you're 17 and haven't driven that many manual cars yet.

I don't have much room to talk as I'm only 19, but I've driven an ***-ton of manual cars.

Honda hydro trans have a soft pedal - softer than a cable CRX, anyways.

Well then if you've owned 7 different manual cars the clutch shouldn't be a big surprise to you.

Obviously if you did own 7 different manual cars you'd know exactly what air in the system feels like and whether you have it or not. You'd also learn to adapt to new clutch setups instead of posting about it asking if it's a problem or not.
