Proper price for O2 sensor replacement?
Hi,
I have a 97 Civic Del Sol Si with an aftermarket exhaust manifold. I took it to a Honda dealership under extended warranty to get it fixed, yet due to an aftermarket exhaust manifold, I was turned down. They did not even turn off my check engine light. It has been like this for few months, the car runs strong still.
I dont wanna try it by myself because changing a catback exhaust a while back was a killer for me without proper tools.
How much should I be willing to pay to a local mechanic? Is it even hard to change O2 sensor? and turn off check engine light?
Please advise!

Please dont pay for a shop to charge you 60-90$ an hour to swap out a sensor that only takes 5mins to do.
The easiest way is to change the sensor right after a drive. spray a little pb blaster.. to help loosed the sensor, un tighten and replace. Then to reset the ecu just unplug the positve cable to the battery. I know there is another way to reset the ecu, but im ghetto like that
Oh o2's range in price from 60$ to 150$, get a plug type and not a splice type. Good luck bro.

I did mine in a few minutes. I agree, it is easy. A big enough wrench (21mm?) and that is about it. Might want to put a dab of anti-seize on the threads of the new one if you have any. Our shop would probably be about 150-200 dollars. I paid 85 for a Denso oem style plug and play one and did it myself. That hardest part for you would be getting under the car.
Any suggestions on how to lift up the car? when I did my catback exhaust replacement, I was stupid enough to use the car jacks to lift up and almost killed myself. I just took it to my friend's shop though at the end...

You don't need any special tools - don't listen to them.
All you need is an adjustable crescent wrench or you can find the size and get a regular rench...it doesn't matter. I changed both OEM ones (10 years old) with a crescent wrench.
As for where to get the O2 sensor, msg Frank_2.0L
He sells denso O2 sensors wholesale - very very cheap. I bought both of mine from him, best deal around.

I thought it was 21mm... but maybe it is 22mm. Do you go to CAL? I visit my gf in berkeley all the time. If you really don't wanna do it, pm me, and I'll swing by and help you out next time I'm up there.

I heard that there are 2 exhaust O2 sensors for 97 del sol. I have never checked ECU, or opened that part of the car. How do I read ECU and figure out which sensor is out? do i need a special tool for that?

Go to kragen, ask them for an obd2 code reader. They should just let you rent it cheap with a deposit. Follow the instructions with the code reader. There are lists on here, and in most service manuals, that will tell what the error code means. Once you get the error code, bring it back to us, and we can probably help you more.
