o2 sensor light still on

o2 sensor light still on PLZ HELP
my check engine light is still on. its the same code. o2 sensor malfunction bank 1 sensor 1. that should be the sensor on my exhaust manifold. i replaced the sensor today and it still came on. the autozone guy told me to drive in a few hundred miles for the drive cycle. he said he used to be a smog tech. i was thinking that too but i wasnt sure. please someone help me that knows theses kinds of problems.

After installing the new O2 sensor, did you clear the ECU by removing the BACKUP fuse under the hood for about 30 seconds and then reinserting it?
If that doesn't turn the CEL OFF, then you may have a problem in the O2 sensor circuit. Check the wires and connectors carefully for damage or corrosion.
