Default Best swap for...

Low end torque?

Been reading up on some types of swaps, I was orginally planning on doing a b18c swap but, i've been reading it sacarfices some low end torque for high end hp

would i even notice the differnece with a b16 swap from my d16?

daily driver, probably never take the engine to its extreme, aside from the occasional stop light when some *** hat teenager in his daddys mustang thinks hes hardcore, kind of sad the things i've put to shame with my stock d16.

h22, do it... do it.

h22/h23 huge low end torque and cheap engines.

I've been reading that its not that great of a canadiate for civics or in my case a del sol, due to weight issues

prefer to keep it in the b series, what i want to know mainly is if i'd notice the differnce of a a b16 over my d16 (non vtec)

i do plan on putting a turbo in sometime before christmas

The weight thing is a myth.

If you want to keep it "simple" Just get a b18b. Fun motor.

But really, 160ft lbs of torque and 2.2 liters?

My vote is h22. I HIGHLY suggest you read up more on the h22 swaps before you make uninformed statements that show how new you are.

I Would bet you money that a turbo b16 weighs more than an h22.

first, search, this topic has been KILLLEDDDD

next, there was just a post on here from a kid who did a b16 swap and complained because he didn't feel a difference below 6,000 rpm.

the numbers don't lie

if you want power you gotta rev for it, the thing is once you rev to it you'll stay in vtec through the rest of the gears.

for a budget i say go ls

Someone run down the weight differences between the conventional B swap and an H for this man, to help his ease of decision.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it in the FAQ's

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=684550

More swap info in the FAQ's for you as well, enjoy.

I just read the sticky about B v H series, and for the record I am new, so I only know what I've read, and I've read that H > B in weight.

Also how is the H vs B for daily drivers? Good MPG? Reliable?

I've been browsing prices on complete swaps, expensive for parts + labor gonna have to save up a bit more.

Is there ANYTHING short of turbo'ing my D series that will give me more torque?

Honestly, if you want reliability and good MPG, do a b18b swap. It's cheap, parts are abundant because there are a million integras on the road, and they have the longest b-series tranny, which makes them have great MPG numbers.

They sold a LOT of preludes.

Of COURSE it's fine for daily driving, IMO it's better because you don't have to wind out an H to go anywhere. power is available below 4000 rpms.

MPG will depend on your driving style. I've heard of 30 mpg in a lighter car with an h22.

Depending on the route you go, either swap could cost between $2000 and $5000

a b18b is a LOT different than a b18c5.

a full on h22 swap, and h2b's differ.

You've got a lot of reading, fortunately it's all organized for you in our index. there's TONS of H swap and B swap info, H vs. B info, etc etc.

It's just another N/A Honda engine. It'll last a while. It'll be pretty powerful, so it'll take some getting used to, but I don't imagine it would be too hard to tolerate as a daily, considering you'd smoke a lot of people on the road who decide to run you (not that I condone street racing )

MPG is variable, depending on driving style, condition of the engine, and the car it's going into (weight). You probably won't get 40mpg, but it will still be fine.

As for increasing torque on your D without F/I, I don't think there really is a way to get very noticeable increases without a lot of work. Sorry, but the D's are just not designed that way. Got a D myself.

I say read up on how to most efficiently get that H22 into your car. FAQ's are a great place to start.
