97 Del Sol S - What to do?
I am just looking to get a lot of feedback / suggestions / criticism with this car.
I just purchased it three months ago, once I am done paying it off I am going to be setting up to install a B18C5 engine into it.
But I am unsure what sort of other modifications I can do (let alone knowing the engine will almost double the horse power / torque that my D16 is putting out!)
I want to turbo this application, but I understand the block is made of light weight parts and will not handle a lot of boost safely.
But anyways, if anyone would mind spitting out this and that about this swap let me know

If you want to turbo, dont get the Type R. Hell, you would put a GS-R in your sol, turbo it and only be a second quicker than that of a H22. You will be running mid 13's with a STOCK H22. Granted, it will cost a little more than a B-series swap, however the long run results will end up being much more favorable swap in the end. H22 all the way!!!! I cant wait til i get mine

stick with a B-series if it will be your daily driver. with a F or H series motor, your Sol would be front heavy. And also are you planning on RoadRacing or drag? if you are planning on boosting, boost a gs-r motor instead of a R. the C/R is too high if the block is left stock.

The R motor can infact be turbo'd safely. it's the high compression that makes it more difficult to tune, but I know of 4 personally that are holding up just fine @ 8psi, on stock internals.

Read up some posts that have been discussed recently about H22's in sols/hatches. The weight issue is really just a myth. The extra money comes with upgrading your suspension which will totally take care of your handling problems you might incure with your stock setup...just my .02 cents

I'll be a B18C5 with a turbo, cast iron turbo manifold, intercooler, piping, etc... probably doesn't weigh much less than an NA H22 w/ a stainless header, huh???

IN a del sol?
I have heard nothing but bad news about H22s in a del sol...
And I guess I could understand -why- my sister has a 98 prelude VTEC and that block is a lot larger then the B18
Which engine # is the GS-R the B181?

Do a B20Z swap, Eagle Rods, Endyn 9.5:1 rollerwave pistons, Skunk2 Intake manifold, N1 Turbo exhaust, Drag Gen 3 LS turbo. Boost it and tune it and hold on!

its a 94 del sol motor, and the a3 also benefits from having the same compresion rating and pistons as a ctr, minus the teflon coating. dont try and argue this, a friend of mine has one in his hb. just for your info we have even seen a motor stamped a4

del sol vtecs do NOT have the same pistons (minus teflon coating) as CTR's. the PR3 piston (used in ALL USDM b16's) is NOT the same as the PCT piston. Yes there is a b16a3, and it has the same compression (10.2:1) that all US b16 engines have come with. Not the same as the 10.8:1 in the stock CTR. the b16a3 is just a USDM b16 running obd1. nothing special.
99-00 si read b16a2
94-97 del sol vtecs read b16a3
88-91 sir1's read b16a
92-95 sir2's read b16a
