MAKE MORE HORSEPOWER WITH A D16Y7
I just got done replacing my old d16y7 that threw a rod due to water damage...i replaced it with another d16y7 to get me back on the road for college that's coming up here in a couple of weeks.......i didnt have the money to do an ls swap or anything so i just kept it simple and used the money i had wizely.......so anyways.....how can i make it a little bit faster than it is.....i have the basic intake header exhaust set up....along with a throttle body spacer.....i dont have anything extreme yet at all....but if there is any other types of bolt ons or something i can do at all to make it produce more torque and horsepower......please let me know.........i had a site that had all kinds of how to's but i lost it so i dono what to do really....i just wanna try and make it fast before nos or boost......
thats pretty much it since u have all the aftermarket intake.exhause
turbo it or swap are the only way to feel power increase on a single cam engine.
if not.thats all u can get from d16y7

save ur money and stop buying parts for your SOHC. save your money and check local listings on crashed cars and see if you can find an engine out of it. ud be suprised how many preludes ive seen junked
but if you WANT to keep your SOHC ur gunna need boost, so that eliminates the header and air intake u bought...thats like what $300+ down the drain?

Your best bet is to put a Y8 head and intake manifold on it. That's definitely the best way to get a little more power, and it can probably be had anywhere between 50 and 150 shipped. You'll want that too, should you turbo that boost loving **** some day.

i got a y8 head and trans for free.....well kind of (labor= free for me). That's going on my y7. From an outside perspective it's a waste since it's still the same as a stock y8. But it will feel nice to have 15-20+ hp and better gearing.
The trans is almost more important imo.

Yeah, I'd go with a Y8 head - that's your best bet. Maybe if you want some more punch on top of that you can put a cam in it, but it won't do much w/o a tune IMO.

If you want to do a bigger project you could get a cheap turbo setup for about $800 and run low boost.
Well if you are on a super budget. You can do a Y8 head swap, and swap a Y8 ECU in there for VTEC. And then get a heat sheilding intake manifold gasket, throttle body coolant bypass, lightweight flywheel, lightweight crank pulley, E3 spark plugs, NGK Spark plug wires (if your wires aren't in the best condition, these are the best wires though), EX Tranny swap. Make sure if you get a Y8 head that when u get the Y8 intake manifold, that its a automatic manifold (because the IACV is on the throttle body, which is the same as your DX one) because then you wont have to do any wiring.

yep, and all the things i listed are like 250-300 total. And thats dependent on whether he wants to do a tranny swap w/ lightweight flywheel.
buy some y8 head with intake manifold, put cams, valvle, sprin and retainers, the cam gear tune it and you grow up like 50hp really nice but, my opinion with that money you could get a b series so try to swap it men
