So I got stuck with a D15y8..
*EDIT* (I mean D15b8)
And I can't do a swap. My dad is partially in charge and he won't allow me to swap the engine, I have no idea why. So my question is, what can I do to at least MATCH a D15b7, I can do basically anything I want to it I just can't completely swap it. I just want enough power to pass someone on the freeway or go up hill on the freeway without shifting to third

What engine do you have? A D15Y8 doesn't exist, at least in America, and neither does a D15Y7. If you have the D16Y7 or anything other than a D16Z6 or D16Y8, get the Z6 or Y8 tranny if you have a 5spd. Otherwise, strip the car and get a cam and some top end work as well as intake, header, exhaust, and some way to tune it.

b7's make more power than b8's?
EDIT: found this for you
http://hondaswap.com/hybrid-eg-ek-dc...rite-up-96144/
apparently you can do a y8 head swap onto it
EDIT 2: found this too https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/faq-d15-sohc-vtec-mini-me-massive-write-up-56k-goodbye-554053/

Not a lot you can do with an 8 valve head.
If his dad wont allow an engine swap, he wont allow a turbo or a head swap either. But I bet his dad wouldn't know the difference if he secretly swapped the engine when his dad was out of town.

Haha that's what I did. I secretly changed my motor five times haha. I just told him something broke and I need to take to a friends house and fix it.

Swapping a different head onto a high mileage motor is the absolute best way to make it burn large amounts of oil. That's a crap solution, unless the bottom end has less than 30-50K I wouldn't recommend it.
Ditch the CX gearing, that's a night and day difference that doesn't have hidden repercussions.

hmm what happens if the motor blows up??
honestly i would waste my time putting anything on that motor, the ex tranny yea cause you can pull it and put it on another motor.

put a z6 head, intake manifold, dizzy, wire the vtec, get a ex tranny, header, intake, and tune...that's it LOL

Drive it until it blows and find an LS or B20 to replace it with. When you need new rings or bearings, it will be easier to just find a cheap low mileage swap than waiting months for getting an engine rebuilt.

Re: So I got stuck with a D15y8..
So, bringing back my own dead thread now that I have more info.
I have looked over the car more and I do have a D15B8 engine, but I looked at the transmission and I have a "S20". Isn't that the Z6 tranny? I'm just trying to figure out why in Gods name someone would take an EJ1, that originally came with a D16, and put a D15B8 of all engines. Given that I have an S20 transmission, would doing just an engine swap be worth it? What else could that indicate that I have? Do you think the last owner did a D16 swap and last minute gave me the D15? I'm just wondering what your guy's thoughts are.
I think I'm just going to go ahead and swap the engine anyways, I'm just wondering if this means it will be cheaper since maybe my tranny is a better one?

EJ1? Isnt that a 92 CX? what year is your car? And if you did a VTEC head swap how would he know? a Y8 head on that block will almost double the power that it makes. because the only reason it makes **** power is because of the **** 8 valve head. The bottom end is the same as the B7. If he knows what a VTEC head is. I suggest a B7 head and a Y8 Manifold. I actually happen to have a B7 Head outside my house. If you want it u can have it for like $20 + Shipping. if you put a B7 head on it it will make as much power as a B7. Thats the beauty of a D series, you can make as much power (or more) than another D series simply by swapping its head on there (unless you have a VX). The B7 head looks identical and you can even use the same old valve cover.
@ the guy who said swapping a head makes it burn oil. How so? You just get a new headgasket and TQ the head down properly.

How much would shipping be? Maybe I'll take this route. It sounds easy enough and will probably help a lot.
Don't I need a different ECU though?
My car is a 1995 Civic EX (I thought?)
VIN: (2HG) EJ112X...
Engine: D15B8...
Transmission: S80-.....
