1991 civic speed sensor/Vtec question
I had read that the VSS could be the reason for your vtec not engaging if your vss is not hooked up. well my brother broke it off at the top of the trans, the cable that is, and now its throwing a 17 and 21 code which is vss and vtec solenoid valve code. Now I did take apart the solenoid today and I am about 99% sure I put it back together properly. Now my questions are how do I replace the vss and where do I get one and could it be throwing a 21 because of the vss or is it something I did with it in taking it apart? Very confused please help. Thanks in advance. And p.s. its a D15b2 trans on a d15b vtec.
I believe the vss is just 2 or 3 bolts and it slides right out of the tranny. I think they are 10mm. Then you slide in a new one along with a new cable. Im not sure about the 21 code. Fixing the vss might clear it up.
Thanks I was afraid that somehow the other end of the cable ended up in my trans somehow. And I don't believe before I took it apart today that it was throwing a 21. there a small round piece that came out and I put it back where I believed it came from, but I wasnt entirely sure. its a small round piece of metal about and inch maybe in diameter with one hole in it. any ideas? and my trans is making some random noise whenever its in gear it makes a noise kind of like the wheel on wheel of fortune, but just quieter but definitely does not seem normal its like a deeper tone of clicking. Trans has 172,000 on it. new trans? add trans fluid? or just it has alot of miles. thanks again
