Default oil in valve train

hey guys i just popped off my valve cover because im going to be painting it. This is the first time ive taken it off, and there is a ton of oil in my valvetrain. It's more than covered, there are literally puddles of it in the valve train, i would say maybe a half inch deep.

anyway, how can i clean this out? it's not supposed to be like this right?

i suggest to not clean it out and leave cause thats how it is suppose to be. think about all that metal moving would you want it to be lubed? or just rubbing while it was dry

But what if he's not?

Well, anywho, the first guy already enlightened you. The valvetrain is supposed to be covered with oil. Don't clean it off.

Oil in your valve train? It's all over the place?!?! Is it a vtec head? If it is, give it to me, it's worth nothing since there's oil all over it. I can fix it, but it's only cause I have the hook-ups. /sarcasm

its supposed to be lubed, if theres no oil there you'll spin a bearing and screw up your motor

...because bearings are what supports the valvetrain.............. What??
Where do half of you guys come up with this stuff? Not being a jerk, but if you dont know how an engine works, where parts are, etc...you shouldnt be playing with them.
