i know this is probably around here some where but i have been looking and cannot find it. i am wondering if jdm engines can pass emissions in the over here in the U.S.? if not what needs to be dont so they can? thanks.

 

Yes they can. I believe all that is the USDM IM equivalent of that motor along with all the EVAP components. <---- Though this would mainly be for Cali and people trying to pass the BAR Ref.

 

I would get a hold of what is actually required of you to pass to make it legal for your state.

To convert, say and OBD1 B18C GSR motor, your gonna need these things if its in an OBD2 vehicle. Most of this an OBD2 vehicle will already have, but there are some things on the engine itself which will be absent. (mainly the Purge Valve and CKF Sensor)

Second O2 and Catalyst.

EVAP System, including these items:
Purge Valve on the fuel rail of an OBD2 car
Vent Solenoid on the canister.
Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor on the fuel tank with an atmospheric bleed.

Crankshaft Fluctuation Sensor, including these items:
OBD2 Oil pump housing
CKF Sensor on the oil pump
OBD2 lower timing belt gear/reluctor wheel

OBD2 P72 ECU or OBD2 Equivalent (P2T works too)

Most OBD1 to OBD1 stuff is compliant, and there are not many differences between a USDM emissions setup or a JDM.
