piston ring replacement and head inspection
So I am taking my engine out this weekend because its needs the rings replaced. Its a D15bvtec(130 hp). I have removed engines and swapped them before, replaced head gaskets, timing belts, pumps....etc but I have never dropped the crank and removed the pistons rods. I got a quote for 300 for a shop to do it if I bring then the short block but if it is something that isnt too dificult I would prefer to do it myself. Also what should I look for on the rod bearing to ensure they are in good condition?? Then while I have the head off I plan to have it milled, ported and polished. I was going to inspect the valves, seats, springs and retainers but will a visual inspection indicate whether they are bad or not?? I just want to be sure when I put it back together it will not smoke anymore
. Thanks everyone
