Default i just cant figure it out. running problem

my buddy has a 90 civic sedan and it pooped on him the other day. Heres the the deal. It has new: spark plugs, spark wires, cap and rotor, fuel filter, timing belt and oil pump. Anyway. What its doing is just not turning over it sounds like it will, but just wont. Well after playing with it for awhile i got it to start. It was running fine, but then like 40seconds later it will just fall flat on its face again, and this process just keeps goin on with the sputtering. His check engine light don't work eather so quite honestly I just don't have a clue. Have any of you guys experienced this problem

my 89 civic was doing that to. for me it was the timing(i mean the cam).. had to set it again. theres a word(up) marked on the sproket. the has to be right straight. and dont forget to put the #1 cylinder up to tdc(top dead center). and incase u didnt no the #1 cylinder is the one closet to you. try that and if that dont work.hit me up i might have some more stuff for u to try..

ok well i reread the topic and it still sounds like a firing problem. just make sure u have the right firing sequence 1,3,4,2 it kinda looks like this

O O
3 4
O O
1 2

besides that the only other think i could be is a ground wire, coil, injectors might have popped, or might jus be the map sensor, or a clogged or broken air way, in one of the 3hose ont he intake manifold.

try those and then let me no what happens, ill think of some more stuff that could cause that problem.

how your explaining it, it really sounds like the ignitor in the dizzy, its happened to me twice now.. two different ef's but yeah, it really seamed like it was cutting fuel, but changed the ignitor and was all good, its like $70 or so usually
